I am one lucky little girl. I was rescued from a kill shelter south of Shreveport. I was scheduled to be euthanized because I needed expensive surgery on my hind legs. Pet Savers was told about me and well, here I am. Iâ??m a teeny-tiny 4 pound Chihuahua. I have something wrong with my knees that they call â??floating knee capsâ??. I was told if I didnâ??t have the surgery, I would end up crippled later in life. Pet Savers paying for my new lease on life. You see, when Pet Savers takes in an animal... they take on the responsibility of the animal... financially and emotionally. Whoever had me before I ended up at the pound, decided I wasnâ??t worth the cost of the surgery that I needed. Pet Savers tries to educate people that bringing a pet into your life should never be taken lightly. Humans should consider all aspects of taking care of a pet... not just the fun and cuddly times... but in times of hardship, sickness, injury, etc. Would you throw your child away or a family member if they needed leg surgery? Of course, not. A four-legged pet should be no different. If, to you, there is a difference... then you really shouldnâ??t bring a pet into your life. My first knee surgery will be on November 7th, 2011, and then 6-8 weeks later, Iâ??ll have my second surgery on my other leg. During my first surgery, Iâ??ll be spayed. University Veterinary Hospital is performing my surgery. Iâ??m 2-3 years old according to the vet. Iâ??m UTD on shots and heartworm negative. Iâ??m somewhat dominant (little dog syndrome), but do get along well with dogs of all sizes... big, small, young or old. If youâ??d like to apply to be approved to adopt me, please e-mail petsavers@petsaversshreveport.org for an adoption application. If approved, Pet Savers will reserve me for you... or give you the option of fostering me through my recovery before officially adopting me. Applying to adopt a pet, does NOT commit you to the adoption until you meet the pet. Please note: If youâ??re not approved, you do have other options to adopt to include your local animal control (kill shelter) where you will likely save a lifeâ?¦ or click on â??Dogs not in shelterâ?? on our website. Thank you for looking! Woof Woof! Pet Saversâ?? shelter.
